THE RITE OF CONFIRMATION

Confirmation Instruction at Trinity
Students are normally confirmed in the Seventh Grade at Trinity. There is a two-year process, which begins with either Sixth Grade Religion Class in our school or a special First Year Confirmation Class taught on certain Sunday afternoons. The second year of instruction is taught by Pastor Moore to all students, whether students at Trinity’s school or not.

NEEDED: CPP’s!
(Confirmation Class Prayer Partners)
It’s confirmation time again at Trinity. Youth primarily in grade seven prepare for their transition into “full” membership in our church. Every other Sunday for approximately eight months, these youth will delve into the teachings of the Lutheran Church and Luther’s Small Catechism. No light task to be sure. With all the distractions and temptations that abound in our world and in the lives of these youth, it seems that prayer support as they journey is essential. We encourage the congregation to remember these youth as they pray.

More than this we are looking for some “special” adults who would commit to secretly “adopting” a confirmation student for the year and become their “Confirmation Prayer Partner” or CPP. As a CPP you would of course, pray specifically and intentionally for that confirmation student, but also act as a “secret pal” and remember your youth with cards (birthday, baptismal, holiday, etc.) signed “Confirmation Prayer Partner.” Then at the end of the year, each CPP will be revealed as they join the confirmand’s family at the Seder Meal on Maundy Thursday. You will receive information on your confirmand, including birth date, address, email (if available), interests, etc., along with a photograph. We ask that you make a commitment of at least one correspondence to your confirmand per month.

This is a great opportunity to become involved in a special way in the lives of our young people It does take a commitment and all students will need a CPP for the program to commence. Please pray about this opportunity to impact the life of a young person. If you have any question or would like to participate this year, please contact Pastor Moore 407-422-5704.

Note: the pages and questions listed for each meeting are those you would cover in the Catechism with your student if you had to miss that meeting. You may also borrow a video of the corresponding Adult Information Class covering the same material to watch with your student—it’s taught on a different level, but would be helpful, I think.
