CURRICULUM:
Lutheran education has a reputation for the strength of its Music programs
and TLS is no different. Our program is headed by Mrs Lisa Moore who
has been teaching music for over 20 years and plays a number of instruments.
Our Band Director, Mr Mike Davis has conducted the music for the inauguration
of three US presidents. If you believe you child has musical talent or
just loves music, TLS may just be the right place to send your child.
In addition, our school
has a strong Christ-centered program that emphasizes the basic
skills
in
all
the traditional
subject
areas.
Religion
is taught
daily
in each
classroom and our faith in Christ is integrated throughout the curriculum.
Trinity meets or exceeds Florida’s Sunshine State standards.
ELEMENTARY
Trinity
Lutheran School’s elementary
curriculum provides a strong program in the basics – the
three “R”’s. Actually our curriculum includes
a very important fourth “R” – religion!
Reading is taught using the phonetic approach. Mathematics
and science
programs feature a significant amount of hands-on learning
activities. Many opportunities are given to learn and expand
writing skills.
The curriculum also includes, music, social studies, physical
education, computer, and fine arts. All activities are designed
to promote
the children’s spiritual, emotional, mental,
physical, and social growth.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Trinity Lutheran Middle School curriculum
is designed to give all middle school students a firm foundation
in the fundamental areas of language arts, mathematics, science
(including labs), social studies, and religion. Additionally, all
students receive instruction in physical education, Spanish, music,
art, and computer. Music electives include band, choir, and handbells.
A multi-track program in mathematics enables students to participate
in a program that meets their individual needs and abilities. Smaller
class sizes in mathematics, Spanish, art, and computer allow for
more individualized instruction. An aggressive program in Accelerated
Reading enhances the middle school student’s language arts
program.Extra-curricular sports programs
are available in soccer, volleyball, basketball, track, golf, and
cheerleading.Co-curricular programs
including spelling bee, mathematics competition, Quiz Bowl, student
council, National
Junior Honor Society, drama presentations, geography bee, Sea Camp,
and learning fair are available to all middle school students.
Annual class trips include Outdoor Education
to Driftwood Education Center in Georgia for the 6th grade, and
alternating destinations of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Washington,
D.C. for 7th and 8th grade students.
