Interesting Butterfly Facts: During the winter, real Monarchs from the U.S. and Canada will over-winter in Mexico, where it is warmer. Then, in the spring, when the real Monarchs return to their homes, the paper Monarchs will also be mailed back to the American and Canadian students who sent them. Then, we should be busy providing feeding grounds for these Monarchs by planting milkweed in our gardens, and by limiting our use of pesticides that are toxic to the Monarch. Monarchs feed on milkweed. God designed this special diet to protect them. Predators do not like the way the milkweed diet makes the Monarchs taste, so they remember the Monarchs' beautiful colors, and just stay away from them. You can buy milkweed seeds and plants in a garden shop, but if you spray the milkweed with bug sprays, then the Monarchs will be made sick by eating their favorite food. Garden pests can be shoo'ed away without poisons, just by using soap sprays on garden plants. Ordinary lavender scented household cleaner, such as liquid Fabuloso, when put into a hose spray attachment and sprayed on ornamental plants, will send many bugs and caterpillars away. Lavender is one perfume bugs do not like! «¡Buen Viaje!» means, "Have a good trip!"
